Biography
Bairam Valiyev is CEO of Greenrock Capital, with a successful track record of over 20 years in banking and extensive experience at Citigroup, ING, Merrill Lynch and most recently at VTB Capital. He has originated and executed a number of complex large-scale transactions across different industries in CEEMEA.
Citigroup · 1998–2001
Bairam was part of the founding team that opened and expanded Citigroup's subsidiary in Kazakhstan, helping build it into a leading and successful regional franchise.
ING · 2001–2007
At ING, Bairam built a successful Debt Capital Markets business for Central Asia, pioneering Hybrid Tier 1 and Lower Tier 2 capital issuance for leading regional banks — taking ING to the top of IFR league tables for Kazakhstan. He further led the opening of equity capital markets for the country with landmark IPOs including KazakhGold and ShalkiyaZink.
Merrill Lynch · 2007–2010
Bairam originated and completed a number of benchmark regional transactions, including the disposal of major oil and gas producers and refineries.
